Assessment Framework

Evaluation Criteria

The Scholarship Commission compiles a list of complete applications, ranks candidates, and collects evaluations from two expert reviewers. Shortlisted candidates are invited for interviews (in person or remotely).

Doctoral GPA & Dissertation Proposal

The overall score is formed based on the average grade in doctoral studies and the average assessment of the dissertation proposal by two expert evaluators.

Commission Interview

Shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview with the Scholarship Commission, conducted in person or via remote communication.

How It Works

Selection Process

Application Submission

Candidates submit their complete application dossier with all 14 required documents via email to info@alijaizetbegovic.org by 15 September 2026.

Administrative Review

Applications are reviewed for completeness. Incomplete or late submissions are excluded from further consideration.

Academic Evaluation

Eligible applications are assessed against the two evaluation criteria: research relevance and academic merit.

Results Announcement

Selected candidates are notified and results are published on the official website on 30 July.

After Selection

Scholarship Obligations

Recipients of the Alija Izetbegović Doctoral Scholarship are expected to maintain academic progress and fulfill the following obligations throughout the scholarship period.

Biannual Progress Reports

Submit a progress report every six months, documenting academic milestones. Prepare at least one scientific paper and submit it for publication within one year of the scholarship start.

Research Budget & Publications

An annual budget of 3,000 BAM is provided for research activities: conferences, publication costs, academic programs, and research travel. Special approval is required for use of funds. Publishing in Q2+ journals (SSCI, SCI, SCI-E, AHCI, Scopus) is encouraged.

Termination Conditions

The scholarship may be terminated if the recipient fails to submit reports on time, enters full-time employment (outside academic exceptions), or shows insufficient academic progress. Precise obligations are determined by the scholarship agreement.
